Fatigue

Our programs are designed to address low energy, fatigue, and exhaustion so you can increase your energy and rebuild your health.

common causes of fatigue

Low energy, waking up tired after a full night's sleep, and fatigue can stem from straight forward or complex health problems.

insomnia & Sleep disturbances

Insomnia and sleep disturbances are one of the most common causes of fatigue. In addition to fatigue, sleep disturbances can also cause decreased concentration, brain fog, depression, headaches, and irritability.

Difficulty Falling Asleep causes fatigue by decreasing the amount of sleep your body needs to repair tissues and store energy to use the next day.

Difficulty Staying Asleep causes fatigue by decreasing the amount of sleep and disrupting the quality of sleep your body needs to repair tissues and store energy to use the next day.

Dream-Disturbed Sleep causes restless sleep and causes fatigue by preventing you from getting deep rejuvenating sleep.

Sleep Apnea causes fatigue by disturbing breathing patterns and decreasing oxygen while you sleep.

In our clinic, sleep problems are resolved with a comprehensive treatment program including nutritional therapy, natural medicines, and acupuncture.

Nutrient deficiencies

Vitamin B12 Deficiency causes fatigue due to decreased cellular energy production. Other symptoms may include neurological disorders, memory loss, depression, confusion, brain fog, and impaired immune function.

Folate Deficiency causes fatigue due to decreased cellular energy production. Other symptoms may include depression, anxiety, apathy, confusion, or dementia.

Iron Deficiency causes fatigue due to decreased oxygenation and energy production of the cells. Other symptoms may include lethargy, decreased exercise/aerobic tolerance, increased muscle fatigue, impaired concentration, mood disorders, hair loss, restless leg syndrome, heavy menstrual bleeding, and decreased immune function.

These nutrient deficiencies can be screened for with a conventional blood tests and treated with a therapeutic nutrition program including whole foods and natural medicines.

digestive health problems

Poor Nutrition causes fatigue due to nutrient deficiencies and inflammation which can limit cellular energy production and disturb proper hormone function.

Low Stomach Acid causes fatigue by preventing proper food breakdown and absorption. Low stomach acid may also be associated with iron deficiency due to the lack of iron absorption.

Intestinal Permeability and Malabsorption cause fatigue by preventing absorption of nutrients due to damage to the digestive tract.

Digestive health problems can be resolved with a whole foods nutrition plan, targeted nutrient therapy, and natural medicine. In addition, we often use advanced digestive health testing such as Comprehensive Stool Analysis and Parasite Testing.

HORMONe health problems

Adrenal Dysfunction causes fatigue due to deficient cortisol (our stress hormone) or a disrupted sleep and wake cycle that causes you to feel tired during the day and alert and wired at night. Other symptoms of adrenal dysfunction include high stress, anxiety, depression, irritability, frustration, insomnia, sleep disturbances, low libido, poor memory, brain fog, and dizziness or lightheadedness when standing up quickly.

Thyroid Conditions cause fatigue by decreasing cellular energy production. The most common thyroid condition is hypothyroidism (low thyroid function) which decreases the rate of metabolism in every cell of the body including the brain and heart. Other symptoms may include depression, weight gain, constipation, feeling cold, cold hands and feet, brain fog, and dry skin.

CHRONIC INFECTIONS

Dysbiosis (Imbalance of Beneficial Gut Bacteria), Bacterial Infections, Parasites, and Candida or Fungi can cause fatigue by disturbing digestive function, nutrient absorption, proper immune function, and hormone balance.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth can also cause fatigue by disturbing digestive function, nutrient absorption, proper immune function, and hormone balance.

Chronic Viral Infections such as Epstein-Barr Virus or Herpes Simplex Viruses can cause fatigue by decreasing cellular energy production.

Chronic infections may be accompanied by brain fog, muscle pain, joint pain, neurological disorders, decreased immunity, autoimmune conditions, adrenal dysfunction, and thyroid health problems.

Chronic infections of the digestive tract can exist with or without digestive symptoms.
